Red sky at night

The last couple of days have been blazing hot with the accompanying clear skies which lends itself to amazing sunsets.

I captured this last night…the colour of the sun was absolutely stunning

Afloat but not…

afloat but not

afloat but not

I often take walks along the coast from Broadstairs to Margate in preparation for my Camino walk, or even just as far as Kingsgate. A couple of months ago on the stretch of sand between Broadstairs and Stoney Bay I saw a boat that looked like it had been beached.

Of course I took loads of photos and saw it often on my later walks. My #Camino2017 practice walks.

Then just a short while ago I met the gentleman who owned the boat. He said he’d brought it up onto the beach to repair and repaint….but I think he’d made a boo boo and beached it by accident 😉

Join me on instagram, I’d love to see what you see on your travels

A miracle in Viking Bay

I got up at 5:20 today to capture the sunrise in Viking Bay. After taking dozens of photos of the sunrise I set off for a quick walk along Stone Bay beach..such a beautiful day, albeit really windy.

Sunrise on Broadstairs Beach

After messing about for a bit I was kneeling on the sand trying to capture the waves washing up under the boat. Keeping an eye on the waves and my periphery…suddenly I found myself knee deep in water 😂😂😂 blessed wave snuck up behind me. I nearly fell over onto my bottom wirh laughter. Needless to say my trainers, socks, thermal longjohns, trousers et al were soaked through. What a laugh. Just glad I wasn’t lying down like I had been earlier.

Time in a bottle

One of my favourite songs is ‘Time in a bottle’ by Roger Whittaker. I captured this image of the clock in Broadstairs and edited it with PIP. Loved the effect.

#sunrise in Viking Bay

Ever so slightly late to watch the sun come up over the horizon, nonetheless I managed to get down to the seafront in time for this. It’s a stunning morning albeit very windy with wild seas. Just awe-inspiring. As the days creep closer to summer, the chances of me watching the sun rise over the horizon get less and less; I’m not a morning person 😀😉…but Oh, the splendour!

Bringing the catch home.

I was on one of my #walk1000miles Camino practice walks this week and walked through Ramgate with a side visit to the harbour wall.

I spent some time photographing the various craft coming into the harbour against the backdrop of the lighthouse.

After 30 minutes or so I resumed my walk and as I was looking out to sea I noticed one of the tiny fishing boats coming into port trailing a flock of seagulls.

I immediately dashed back to my vantage point to capture a few images of this fascinating scene.

This is by far my favourite of the day…I didn’t even see the bird fly past my camera till I started sorting through the images.

Ryde Pier, Isle of Wight

The world’s oldest seaside pleasure pier, Ryde Pier is an early 19th century pier serving the town of Ryde, on the Isle of Wight.

Ryde Pier, Isle of Wight – the ferry from Portsmouth moors at the far end

What an amazing pier this is. I walked along it a couple of times…just because. 🙂 I had fun to watching the ferry mooring alongside the terminal.

It’s alright on the Isle of Wight

There is a tree that guides me……

I was so lucky to have spent 2 weeks on the Isle of Wight, and I spent most of my free time walking and visiting places nearby. This tree always guided me back to where I needed to be.

Mornings….

My ‘job’ as a Carer for the elderly takes me away from home for at least two weeks of every month, if not three. Every morning when I’m away, I wake, I look out the curtains and wish I was home so I could get out and take photos of the new day…..but when I am home, my bed is usually warm and cosy; I enjoy snuggling on the couch in my gown drinking tea with my daughter and miss the start of the new day. But, my time too is waning,  and I have now made a pledge (as of 01.11.2016), that when I am home, I shall get up as soon as I wake up and go down to the sea and greet the day….

What I love about being in one place is that you can capture the same view, but the scene is different every day.
