Daffodils – a poem by William Wordsworth

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o’er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced, but they
Out-did the sparkling leaves in glee;
A poet could not be but gay,
In such a jocund company!
I gazed—and gazed—but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

Oval tube station

On one of the rare times I am free and in London at the same time, I accompanied my daughter to watch her play netball.  It was the first time I had been to Oval tubestation and was delighted to see these images on the walls.  I love how TFL decorate some of their tube stations.

The London Eye at dusk

The London Eye on the river Thames

London is an amazing beautiful city, ever changing yet constantly the same, with many moods.  No matter the weather, wherever you are in London there is something beautiful to see.  This photo was taken on 18.03.2010 at about 6pm from the Embankment

Good friends

In the afternoon of the the same day, my dear friend Andrew, who was in town for the day met up with me and we went walk-about through town. Me playing tour-guide!  We managed to sweet-talk our way into Queen’s College and I achieved one of my dreams in life….to walk across the Mathematics Bridge over the River Cam.  The memory I took from that day is; friends are dear and important and by being nice you can get to things without paying for them 🙂

Trafalgar Square

I love nothing more than to go walk-about through London, walking through places known and unknown.  Sometimes I discover the most amazing things, others I re-discover places I have been before but in at a different time of day.  I am constantly delighted by the wonders that this city holds.   I was on one of these jaunts on the 17.03.10 and after walking a winding route found myself in Trafalgar Square. It was by then about 7pm and the wind was blowing causing the spray in the fountains to go off in different directions. I took this photo without much expectation of anything wonderful……till I saw the rainbow 🙂

Will you still have fun!

I recently spent a week in Cambridge and had a marvellous time caring for a 94yr-old man who despite his age was still very active.  In order to get around town easily he has a motorised scooter.  Suffice to say he should really have a red flag in front!!! Great fun. On this particular day we were on our way to the Science dept, to chat via video-link to the British Weather station in Antarctica & the memory I took with me of this time is that you can still have a good time even when you’re very old 🙂

Hello world!

this is my first blog on this profile. I am passionate about travelling and get great enjoyment out of taking photographs. My goal is to share these snapshots of places I have been as I take only memories and leave only footprints.
